Blackpool 2012, with its Tower and Pleasure Beach is a terrific Visitor Holiday location
History
Blackpool, so named because of the black coloured water draining into the sea from the peat bogs, came to prominence after the railway arrived and the cotton mills closed for a week each year for maintenance. Families would descend upon the town to have their one holiday on the beach. Blackpool prospered, accommodation, attractions and piers were built. The tower, modelled upon the Eiffel Tower and its trams are still going strong today.
Attractions
Blackpool has long been a Tourist trap and there are many ways of extracting you from your holiday money. From the Sea Life Centre to the Tower and the Pleasure Beach. the sandacastle water park is an indoor swimming pool with slides and waves - useful when it's wet and miserable outside.
News
Blackpool is lobbying hard for to be a trial Supercasino. Originally, Manchester won the bid, but it is now being reconsidered.
Storm City is a future project - a multi-themed indoor entertainment complex with entertainment, hotel accommodation and Blackpool's own version of the London Eye.
